A freelance tutor, John Becker interned with the sustainable furniture business City Bench last year, learning how to process lumber as well as build and finish furniture pieces. John Becker also has an extensive background in education that includes teaching British literature and AP language and composition. He served as a basketball and lacrosse coach, and guided campus health and wellness initiatives. John now writes for a marketing agency.
Mr. Becker’s experience in education extends to five years of teaching literature, psychology, and creative writing at The Williams School. Experienced as a freelance curriculum developer, he also has an extensive resume of published education and travel pieces. Among these are “Getting Back on The Bus” (Independent School Magazine, Fall, 2013) and “Lessons from The Italian Olive Harvesting” (UMass Magazine, Winter, 2007).
Mr. Becker completed his undergraduate degree in English and anthropology at the University of Massachusetts. He holds a master’s degree from Middlebury College in writing and English, and also completed a master’s in education and leadership at the University of Pennsylvania.
